Tame is your Tongue

Our words carry tremendous power to either build up or destroy, much like how small sparks can ignite massive fires. James compares the tongue to a bit controlling a horse, a rudder steering a ship, and a spark that can set forests ablaze. Before speaking, we must ask ourselves: Will these words build or burn? While no human can tame the tongue through their own strength, the Holy Spirit provides the self-control needed to speak life-giving words. When we surrender our speech to God and ask for His help, we can use our words to encourage and build up others rather than tear them down.
