WHAT WE BELIEVE

STATEMENT OF FAITH

WHAT WE BELIEVE SHAPES WHO WE BECOME.
AS A CHURCH, WE LOOK TO THE BIBLE FOR ANSWERS.

JOHN 8:31-32 NIV | "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

THE SCRIPTURES
We believe that the Bible, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is God’s inspired Word revealed to us. It is the highest source and standard of truth, our guide to living lives that are pleasing to God and fulfilling to us.

GOD: THE TRINITY
We believe in one true and eternal God who is Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit. God is perfect: infinite, holy, good, loving, all powerful, and all knowing. As the creator, sustainer, ruler, and redeemer of the universe, He deserves our love, worship, and obedience.

HUMANITY
We believe God created our world and everything in it to be good. He made humanity as male and female, in His likeness. Every life has equal and sacred worth from conception. Biological gender is a part of this good design, a gift to be valued and honored.

SIN & SALVATION
We believe that humanity, though created good, disobeyed God. In so doing, humanity fell from perfection into a sinful state and subjected the world to brokenness and death. All people are inclined to sin and do sin when capable of moral choice. This separates us from God and leaves us spiritually lifeless. Yet God, in His love, sent Jesus to restore us to life. Perfect and sinless Himself, Jesus died on a cross in our place to pay our debt in full. He was buried, then raised to life. Unable to save ourselves, we are forgiven and reconciled with God by His grace through repentant faith in what Jesus has done.

JESUS
We believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son and the Savior of the world. Fully God, He also became fully human – conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary – in order to reveal God to us and to reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless life, taught truth, worked miracles, died on a cross to redeem and restore His fallen creation, rose back to life, and returned to heaven. Now He intercedes for us at the Father’s side and will soon return in power and glory as King.

THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in all who put their faith in Jesus, setting us apart as God’s people and securing our salvation. By His power, we are reborn spiritually and made new. As we follow His lead, He produces within us the character of Jesus, supplies us with spiritual gifts, teaches us, guides and corrects us, and empowers us to live and to serve. We fulfill our God-given calling by submitting to and cooperating with Him.

THE LIFE OF FAITH
We believe that through faith, we are welcomed into God’s family as His children. We are united with Jesus as members of His body, the Church. While it is global, the Church exists as local communities of believers, set apart by God and used to carry out His work. This includes communicating the gospel to the world and developing disciples. Each of us plays a vital part in this work and is uniquely gifted to fulfill it. As we participate in this community and practice faith, we mature, grow in holiness, and become ever more like Jesus.

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
We believe baptism is a declaration of our identification with Jesus as participants in His death, burial, and resurrection. It is a picture of dying to sin and being reborn into new life. As an act of obedience, it follows an individual’s decision to follow Jesus in faith. Because of its symbolism, we encourage baptism by immersion in water.

THE SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION
We believe communion is a remembrance of Jesus’s death on the cross. The elements are sacred symbols: the bread reminding us of His broken body, the juice of His spilled blood. In receiving them, we declare our belief that Jesus’s sacrifice is sufficient for our salvation. We welcome to the table all who acknowledge their need for the forgiveness and the grace found in Him.

Matthew 26:26-28; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 11:23-32
FAMILY & THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
We believe that marriage is a gift from God, created for our joy and our benefit. As a sacred and lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that makes them one, it provides for companionship, sexual fulfillment, and creation of new life. God designed marriage and the family as the foundation of society and a picture of His loving relationship with His people.

RESURRECTION & THE RETURN OF JESUS
We believe that, in the end, good wins over evil. Jesus will soon return to fully establish His kingdom in righteousness and peace and set all things right. The dead will rise, and God will judge all people. Those who in life accepted the offer of grace and forgiveness that is found in Jesus will be glorified and receive their eternal reward in heaven; this is our hope and motivation to live lives of holiness and faithful service. Those who rejected Jesus will be consigned to hell, a place of punishment and spiritual death, along with the devil and fallen angels.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU OFFER COMMUNION EVERY WEEK?
Yes. The Bible emphasizes the meaning and importance of communion. In receiving it, we proclaim Jesus's sacrifice to the world until he returns (1 Corinthians 11:26). So, we offer it weekly during each of our Sunday services.
WHO CAN TAKE COMMUNION?
All those who have personal faith in Jesus Christ are welcome to partake of the Lord’s Supper. It is the Lord’s Table, not the table of any specific church. Communion is a time to remember (Luke 22:19) and to reflect. Before participating, each believer should take a moment to examine their heart and intentions (1 Corinthians 11:28). Those who have turned to God in repentance are welcome at the Lord’s Table.

LUKE 22:19 NIV | And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

1 CORINTHIANS 11:28 NIV | Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.
ARE KIDS ALLOWED TO TAKE COMMUNION?
Anyone who has a personal faith in Jesus Christ is invited to receive communion - including kids! Jesus welcomes children to come to him and holds them up as a model of what faith should look like. As a church, we follow His lead by not placing an age limit on communion. Instead, we encourage parents to talk with their children about what communion means and decide when they are ready.

MATTHEW 19:14 NIV | Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
